Review study of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Cooperation Framework: "Sustainable use of natural resources and environmental conservation"

The study included assessment of the achievements and problems encountered in attaining perceived objects and goals of various UNDP projects in Syria for the period 1997 - 2000.

The Design of a National Strategy and Action Plan for the Biodiversity Situation in Syria

The overall aim of the study was to help develop a national strategy and action plan on in situ conservation and protection areas system for Syria. To fulfill this objective Envirotech was assigned to do the following:

  • Develop a national action plan to meet the needs of research and study on the components of biodiversity in the country
  • Train national experts on biodiversity planning (train the trainer)
  • Provide a technical advice to the major concerned national institutions namely; the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture
  • Propose programs for training and capacity building in the area of in situ conservation and protected area management and define the needs for scholarships
